Why is a "SEDENTARY" lifestyle so detrimental to maintaining a healthy body weight?
When you SIT 1 hour in traffic on your way to work. Then SIT 5-6 hours at your job in an 8 hour workday. Then SIT for 2 hours watching T.V after work watching the news. Sitting around for more than 1 hour causes cranial nerve 10 to send parasympathetic nervous signals to your gut which causes the G.I system to move.
Your body thinks it's time to eat. Since you can't eat a FULL meal then you SNACK throughout your long and sedentary day. Snacking throughout the day leads to excess calories consumed which little by little and snack by snack lead to excess weight gain.
